Brent Barry – Bio

Brent Barry

Secretary Board of Driectors

My name is Brent Barry and I am the superintendent of Phoenix-Talent Schools. This year will mark my 18th year with this amazing district. During my time in this district, I have served as an assistant principal/athletic director at Phoenix High school, principal at Orchard Hill elementary school, and most recently served as Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Student Services. Previously I served as a teacher and coach for Crook County School District (1996-97 school year), Oregon City School District (1997-99 school years), and Medford 549c (1999-2003 school years). I earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Linfield College in 1996, a Master in Education from SOU in 2005, and my Administrative License from Portland State University in 2007.

I currently serve on the board at Rogue Valley Family YMCA, Rogue Powerpack Program, and board member emeritus/former president of Medford-Alba Sister City association. In addition, I was the volunteer coordinator for the Rogue Run for the first 3 years of this event which brought in 200+ volunteers throughout the valley. In addition, I have served as a youth club volleyball coach, ASA softball coach, and AAU basketball coach.

I really enjoy spending time with my family. My wife, Sara, and I have been married for 21 years and have two daughters, Alexandra and Lauren. We love to travel together and enjoy the outdoors. Sara and I believe it is important to surround yourself with positive people that help promote health and wellness. The balance of work, family, faith, health, and friends is a challenge in today’s world, but something we strive to model for our staff and community.

Finally, I am really excited to be a part of the Rogue Powerpack Program. In my profession, I see the need every day of students that are hungry. Also, I believe this program provides hope for our families and they know someone cares for their well-being. I serve as the secretary on the board and look forward to growing this program.
